FAQs
What is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)?
1
LCSW stands for Licensed Clinical Social Worker. As an LCSW, I am a licensed mental health professional trained to assess, diagnose, and treat a range of emotional, behavioral, and mental health concerns through psychotherapy.
My training as a clinical social worker also emphasizes understanding the whole person. It’s not only your individual experiences, but also the relationships, family dynamics, culture, community, and larger systems that may shape your well-being. This perspective allows me to approach therapy with both clinical expertise and an awareness of the broader context of your life.
What can I expect during the first session?
2
Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We'll talk about what brings you to therapy, your current concerns, relevant parts of your history, and what you hope to gain from our work together. You don't need to have everything figured out before you begin. We'll take it one step at a time.
Do you offer virtual or in-person sessions?
3
Yes. I offer virtual therapy to clients throughout California, as well as in-person sessions in Los Angeles, CA. Telehealth allows you to attend sessions from a private space that feels comfortable and convenient, while in-person availability is limited.
What if I'm experiencing a mental health emergency?
4
Shift Psychotherapy is not a crisis service and cannot provide immediate emergency support. If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency or need immediate assistance, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. You may also call or text 988 to connect with the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
What is your cancellation policy?
5
I require at least 48 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Because your appointment time is reserved specifically for you, cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice may be subject to the full session fee.
You're welcome to reach out with any additional questions or to schedule a consultation. Finding the right support is a personal decision, and I'm happy to help you determine whether Shift Psychotherapy feels like the right fit for you.
